The Undergraduate Finance Board (UFB) has decided to waive the $143 Student Activities fee for Fall 2020. Given the significant restrictions on student activities and events during the Fall 2020 semester (and potentially beyond), UFB projects that student clubs’ costs are likely to be significantly lower. Since UFB currently has a surplus, we aim to cover Student Activity costs for the Fall using a portion of this surplus. UFB remains committed to using a large portion of the surplus to provide better support to the entire Brown community in the upcoming years. We aim to achieve this through funding larger events, encouraging more community building, and launching new initiatives in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent social and racial justice movements across the country. Our hope is that a significant portion of UFB’s surplus will be used to rebuild community and create sustainable and equitable new initiatives that will last for years to come.
